Norma Jean Davis

Founder & Executive Director · San Antonio, Texas

Norma Jean Davis is the founder and executive director of Great Micro Schools. Her work is rooted in a simple but powerful conviction: that every child deserves an education built around who they are, and every family deserves the tools to find it.

Norma's foundation in education runs deep. She studied early childhood through sixth-grade education at San Antonio College and the University of Texas at San Antonio, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Literature with a concentration in British literature and a minor in Spanish literature. Her scholarship was recognized with a foreign language award for literary analysis.

That academic grounding became practice when Norma spent four and a half years as director of her own state-registered home daycare, designing and delivering custom curriculum to dozens of children. Alongside her professional work, she has homeschooled and volunteered as a cheer coach for preschool students—experiences that shaped her belief in small, personal learning environments.

Today, Norma advocates for educational reform with a clear focus: low student-to-teacher ratios and emotional intelligence training that help children grow as both learners and people. She sees micro schools as a meaningful path toward that vision, and Great Micro Schools as a way to connect families with the schools that fit their children best.

Norma brings a wide range of experience to her mission. She is an entrepreneur, a freelance artist, and a lifelong student of the human experience. She has studied real estate at Champions School of Real Estate, offers individual and group mediation sessions, and is CPR and First Aid certified.

Our Vision

We envision a world where every family has access to a school that truly fits their child — where education is personal, communities are strong, and no parent is left without options. Micro schools are at the heart of that future, and we're building the infrastructure to help them grow.

Great Micro Schools exists because we believe that when families have real choices and schools have real support, everyone wins — students, parents, educators, and entire communities.
